My Pöyry Story

'I get to gather a lot of experience from challenging SW projects'

Maxim, Software Engineer, Austria

Joining Pöyry was a big turning point not only in my career, but also in my life.

"It’s been more than 5 years since I joined Pöyry and the Information Services department in the company’s office in Salzburg. The job at Pöyry was a big turning point not only in my career, but also in my life. For me it meant permanently moving to another country and starting there from scratch. It proved to be a good start.

I reinforced the Pöyry team as Software Developer to play a major role in creation of a new product for sensor data management - Redbex. In fact, it didn’t even have a name back then and was nothing more than a vision of a system that could manage and evaluate sensor data from various branches, including tunneling, hydrology, environmental monitoring and many others, and bring this data together, centrally evaluate it and help professionals to draw conclusions.

We’ve come a long and challenging, yet rewarding way since those early days. Over years, our small team transformed this vision into a solid product that is now successfully used in several countries on various construction and surveillance sites. At Pöyry, I have had the opportunity to experience what it is like to build up a big software project from the ground, guiding it through all life cycles from requirements engineering and architectural design through programming and testing to active ongoing product support.

At Pöyry, I have matured as a professional, gathered a lot of intercultural experience working in projects that cross borders, and learned a lot of new things within and beyond my primary field of expertise."
