My Pöyry Story

'I get to step outside my comfort zone'

Ville, Department Manager, Environmental Services, Finland

It’s the talented people and refreshingly diverse projects that makes Pöyry a special place to work

"I majored in Planning Geography and minored in Urban Planning and Economics. Before joining Pöyry I worked in regional administration doing land use planning, regional development and impact assessments. Working for two years in international crisis management operations in the Balkans and Central Asia, meant that I learned a lot about how to operate as part of an international working community.

Our business – it’s about creating solutions. One needs to think out-of-the box, leave the comfort zone and seek for innovative approaches. This means combining the best talents within the company to solve the client’s challenge. This is how my team in the Environmental Services department works. We deliver biological and social studies, contaminated soil services and waste management. It is our job to help clients to find smart solutions and simultaneously, take the surrounding society and environment into consideration. We also help clients to gain social license for their projects by engaging stakeholders and by trying to find optimal solutions from all perspectives.

It’s the talented people and refreshingly diverse projects that makes Pöyry a special place to work. As each new day starts, I never know what new opportunities are going to come up. Every day is different. Pöyry is a versatile and global company, offering wide-ranging career opportunities."
