Heikki Malinen has two decades of professional experience in the forest industry and management consulting both in the United States and Finland.
In his prior position as UPM-Kymmene's Executive Vice President, Strategy and a member of UPM's Executive Team he was responsible for strategy, business portfolio, mergers and acquisitions as well as emerging markets. Before transferring to Finland in 2006, Malinen was President of UPM-Kymmene North America, located near Chicago, Illinois. He was responsible for paper mills, sales, marketing, logistics, IT, and customer service functions.
Malinen has accumulated knowledge of several business areas working as a consultant. During his position at McKinsey & Company, in Atlanta, USA he focused on strategy, mergers & acquisitions and operations improvement engagements in the fields of telecommunications, chemical industry, materials and mining industries to list a few.
