PRESS RELEASE 18 May 2005

JAAKKO PÖYRY GROUP AWARDED CONTRACT FOR TRANSPORTATION SERVICES IN MEXICO

Electrowatt Infra Ltd., Latin America, which is part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group, in association with its Mexican partner Sintra, has been awarded a consulting contract by the Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transporte, Mexico, for a suburban commuter railway. The value of Electrowatt Infra's share of the assignment is EUR 0.8 million.

The Mexican Government has announced its intention to restore passenger rail services in Mexico City as part of a national development plan for 2001-2006 to reduce congestion and contamination. Located north of the city, the railway will have a length of 25 km and is estimated to cost USD 600 million. To make the project attractive for private investors, it is being structured as a public private partnership where the Federal Government will be responsible for track and infrastructure civil works and fixed installations, and the concessionaire for rolling stock, civil works for stations, signalling and operation of the system.

Electrowatt Infra's assignment includes tendering process and tender evaluation services as well as review of the selected concessionaire's planning and engineering. The contract is an extension of the services provided by Electrowatt Infra during 2004, and it will be completed by the beginning of 2006. Electrowatt Infra Latin America has a large number of major transport projects on its track record. Projects have been undertaken in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.

The Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group uses the brand name Jaakko Pöyry Infra. Its net sales for 2004 were EUR 142 million. The business group has offices in 22 countries and employs 1700 experts worldwide.
