JAAKKO PÖYRY GROUP AWARDED EUR 20 MILLION CONSTRUCTION AND SUPPLY CONTRACT FOR A BIOPOWER PLANT IN THAILAND

JAAKKO PÖYRY GROUP AWARDED EUR 20 MILLION CONSTRUCTION AND SUPPLY
CONTRACT FOR A BIOPOWER PLANT IN THAILAND

The Jaakko Pöyry Group's Energy business group, Electrowatt-Ekono, has
been awarded the construction and supply contract by A.T. Biopower Co.,
Ltd. for a 20 MW rice husk-fuelled power plant in Thailand. The value of
the assignment amounts to about EUR 20 million and it is included in the
order stock for the end of financial year 2003.

Electrowatt-Ekono's assignment includes project management, engineering,
procurement of all equipment, construction, erection, commissioning and
testing of the entire plant. The expected take-over for the power plant
is December 24, 2005. This power plant near Pichit in central Thailand
is the first of four similar rice husk-fuelled power plants under
development by A.T. Biopower.

A.T. Biopower Co., Ltd., Thailand, is a joint venture company with major
shareholders Chubu Electric Power Company of Japan, Flagship Asia
Corporation of Malaysia, Al Tayyar Energy Ltd. of UAE, Private Energy
Market Fund L.P. of Finland and the Finnish Fund for Industrial
Cooperation Ltd.

The Energy business group, operating under the brand name Electrowatt-
Ekono, had net sales of EUR 112 million in 2002. Electrowatt-Ekono has
offices in 22 countries and employs 1100 experts worldwide.
