Pöyry awarded design services for two road rehabilitation programmes in Romania

Pöyry has been awarded two design contracts by Strabag AG for road rehabilitation programmes in the counties of Bihor and Satu Mare in Romania. The project concerns the rehabilitation of DN19 from Oradea to Bihor/Satu Mare County Limit with an approximated length of 67 km as well as of DN19 Bihor/Satu Mare County Limit to Satu Mare with an approximated length of 47 km. The value of the assignments amounts to EUR 3.2 million.
 
Pöyry has been nominated as the designer for this road rehabilitation programme on the basis of a prequalification process and will be responsible for the detailed design for the construction works. The rehabilitation includes widening of the road, construction of a third lane, black spot improvement, highway structure replacement and services for the land expropriation.
 
The project is undertaken by the Romanian National Company of Motorways and National Roads (RNCMNR) as the representative of the Romanian Ministry of Transport. The financing is based on an EIB loan towards the cost of the roads rehabilitation VI project to the Romanian Ministry of Economy and Finance as borrower and the Ministry of Transport as the recipient.
