STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 23 Jun 2010

Pöyry awarded EUR 9.2 million contracts for a pump storage plant project in Austria

PÖYRY PLC          Company Announcement 23 June 2010 at 11.00 a.m.

Pöyry has been awarded contracts by VERBUND-Austria Hydro Power AG both for the provision of engineering services and for site supervision during the construction period of Reißeck II pump storage plant. The overall value for Pöyry in the two contracts amounts to approximately 9.2 MEUR. Prior to these contracts Pöyry also executed the tender and approval design for Reißeck II pump storage plant.

Pöyry's engineering services comprise execution design and as-built design. The site supervision services will last during the entire construction period from June 2010 until completion by the third quarter of 2014.

The pumped storage power plant Reißeck II connects two existing storage power plants: Reißeck-Kreuzeck storage power plant and Malta power plant main stage. For the new pumped storage scheme the existing reservoir "Großer Mühldorfersee" of Reißeck-Kreuzeck scheme is used as upper reservoir. The existing reservoir "Gößkar" of Malta main stage serves as lower reservoir. The waterway leads from the upper reservoir via a 5 km long power tunnel and pressure shaft to the powerhouse cavern, which is equipped with 2 sets of reversible Francis-pump turbines with 215 MW each. The downstream connection to the waterway of Malta-main stage is a 203 m long pressure tunnel.
