Pöyry shares expertise on pulp, paper, packaging, tissue and related industries in recent conferences in Asia

Pöyry’s Senior Consultant, Trang Ly, was invited to share her expertise on bio based chemicals and plastics as well as paper, packaging, and consumer markets at two conferences held last June 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand: the 7th Biobased Chemicals & Plastics and Asian Paper & Tissue World.

At the 7th Biobased Chemicals & Plastics conference, Trang talked about increasing market pull coming from brand owners and legislative initiatives concerning plastics substitution and sustainability targets as well as new flagship projects and implications in Asia.

She then focused on the state of the packaging industry in emerging Asia and on China’s role now that the economic growth in the said country has shown signs of slowing down, in the Asia Paper & Tissue World conference. There, she presented the ‘New Global paper and Board Multi-Client Study’ and shared Pöyry’s new outlook on how the paper and paperboard market is going to look like by 2030.

“Digital transformation is posing challenges to graphic paper usage but at the same time benefiting the packaging sector through new ways of trade”, Trang shared.

She also talked about the positive impact of online shopping as it creates new growth possibilities for the global packaging board industry, especially for containerboard demand.
