Erdgas Münster GmbH is a German company that’s transmission system carries natural gas produced from German gas fields. When new German and European regulations were established, Erdgas Münster had to develop an independent transport system operator (ITO) in order to adhere to the new standards for the separation of energy grids and retail and production operations.
They asked Pöyry Management Consulting to develop the operational plan for the new ITO including the allocation of processes and resources between the new organization and the original company. We began by examining their high level concept for the ITO and then developing an optimized organizational structure for both the ITO and the original company. We defined and documented the new interaction models and processes between the two companies. Our design of the ITO concept allowed to Erdgas Münster to meet the new regulations and provided them with the framework to respond to regulatory and shareholder documentation requirements.
