Project Management for the Rehabilitation of Damages caused by the Flood Disaster in the Region of Weißeritz, Germany

After the flood disaster which occurred August 2002 in Saxony, the State Administration for Dams and Reservoirs initiated measures on damage control and rehabilitation.

Pöyry has been assigned with the timely reinstatement of secondary and tertiary water bodies, including budgetary control and assessment of proposed measures. To this end, a database for damage control and reinstatement measures had been created, terms of reference for involved firms of consulting engineers were prepared and proposals for consulting and engineering services were evaluated. The project management team, headed by Pöyry, supervised definition of priorities and their implementation (design, construction) and was responsible for the coordination with stakeholders and local site supervision.
