Pori Prosessivoima's biopower plant was brought into commercial use in December 2008. It replaces the use of coal and oil by producing heat energy from indigenous fuels to Sachtleben Pigments' Pori factories and the Pihlava industrial site, district heat to the district heating network of the City of Pori, and electricity (as coproduction of electricity and heat) to the national grid.

The fuel output of the plant is approximately 200 MW and the plant burns peat, wood-based fuels, recycled fuels and coal.

In addition to pre-engineering, Pöyry's services comprised complete basic and implementation engineering including project management, procurement services, and site and commissioning supervision. Pöyry also carried out the boiler and turbine performance tests.
