Pöyry was involved in this personal care and tissue products plant project from the very early feasibility phase and has thereafter been supporting Kimberly-Clark in items related to site selection, permitting, time scheduling and purchasing. Pöyry has also done the basic and detailed engineering for all disciplines. Site supervision services were also included.
Taking into account the market developments in Eastern Europe and the CIS countries, Kimberly-Clark decided to build a new-generation personal care and tissue products plant in Russia. The active stage of construction of the plant began in 2009 and was completed in 2010.
The facility is located in Stupino, approximately 100 km southeast from Moscow, and occupies an area of about 40 hectares.
The first phase of the project included a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for personal care assets and also site preparation, construction of manufacturing buildings, offices, warehousing and roads. The facility has been built with the ability to add further capacity later on.
