The waste-to-energy plant Südwestthüringen (Suhl), Germany, was designed for incineration of municipal solid waste (MSW) with possi- bility of marginal sludge co-incineration.

The plant is equipped with a grate system (Martin), steam boiler, water steam system with turbine and air condenser and semi dry flue gas treatment. Additionally, sludge storage, a shredder for bulky waste and a baling press are installed.

Pöyry's services included general planning and project management in a consortium, preparation of permission documents and management of permission procedures, preparation of bidding documents and evaluation of tender documents for balance of plant, detailed design, overall project supervision, site supervision and commissioning.
