Pöyry supports domestic and international investors in realising projects in the Italian Market

In order to reach the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 80% from their 1990 levels, as per the EU Energy Roadmap 2050, Italy’s ten-year plan “National Energy Strategy 2017” (Strategia Energetica Nazionale – SEN) has set ambitious target to be achieved by 2030.

The challenging plan of action is oriented to reach more than 90 GW (from the current 54 GW) of installed renewable capacity to finally phase out coal power production by 2025, and consequently increase  the energy production from renewables to 28%.

In particular, the Solar PV energy will perform a pivotal role in the Italian energy mix, as it is expected to represent more than half of the whole power generation from clean sources. That means power production from PV to increase from 23 TWh currently, to 74 TWh by 2030.

In this scenario, solar technology today represents the only sector that has reached the grid parity in the Italian electricity market.

Many developers are thus increasingly focusing their interest in developing projects without incentive scheme tariff. This allows the speeding up of authorization of such processes and to deliver projects with interesting IRR % for investors.

Power Traders have started offering 12 year PPAs that are considered acceptable by lenders interested in financing green projects.

Long term PPAs guarantee a minimum selling price of the produced power to investors for a given time frame. The agreement’s length ensures immediate bankability of their projects and allows investors to quickly start shaping them without necessarily waiting for long incentive bidding processes and auctions.

Pöyry with its extensive and long lasting relationships with several key players in the energy sector is the right partner to rely upon to bring your project to light.

We take you from the preliminary concept to the operation of your power plant, assuring the highest professional standards and making your idea sustainable and concrete.
