Jaakko Pöyry Oy, which is a part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group, has been appointed main engineering consultant for the new fibre line to be built at StoraEnso's Imatra mills. The assignment comprises complete engineering services for fibre line No. 3, modifications in chemicals recovery departments and a new pulp drying machine. The KL3 project will start immediately and the new fibre line is scheduled to come on stream in early May, 2001, after which the existing fibre line 1 will be shut down.
The new fibre line will produce 500 000 tons of bleached birch kraft pulp a year, which will be used for the mill's own paperboard and fine paper production.
The total investment for the new fibre line and related sub-projects is about EUR 365 million.
