JAAKKO PÖYRY GROUP APPOINTED MAIN ENGINEERING CONSULTANT FOR CARTIERE BURGO’S NEW LWC PRINTING PAPER PRODUCTION LINE
Jaakko Pöyry Oy, which is a part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group, has been appointed main engineering consultant for Cartiere Burgo S.p.A's new PM9 LWC (Light Weight Coated) printing paper line at Verzuolo, Italy. The assignments commissioned by Cartiere Burgo S.p.A. and Valmet Oy consist of complete engineering, project co-ordination and site supervision services for the entire PM9 production line. The total value of these orders is about EUR 15 million. The new production line is scheduled for start-up at the end of 2001.
PM9 at Verzuolo mill will be one of the world's biggest LWC paper production lines. With a design speed of 2000 m/min and a wire width of 10.45 metres, the paper machine will have an annual production of about 400 000 tons. The total investment in the Verzuolo PM9 project is about EUR 500 million, which includes a power plant, and construction and auxiliary works.
Cartiere Burgo S.p.A. is a major producer of LWC and WFC (Woodfree Coated) paper. With its annual production of two million tons, the company was among Europe's biggest paper producers in 1998. Cartiere Burgo S.p.A's paper mills are situated in Italy and Belgium.
