JAAKKO PÖYRY GROUP AWARDED EUR 1.7 MILLION ASSIGNMENTS IN IRAN AND INDIA
The Jaakko Pöyry Group's Energy business group, Electrowatt-Ekono, has been awarded by Isfahan Water Board a contract for the design and preparation of tender documents for a 120 m high Kouhrang double curved arch dam and its appurtenant structures in Iran. The dam is located in the Isfahan province in the Zagross Mountains. The dam and reservoir are part of an extensive water transfer system for water supply and irrigation in the central part of the Isfahan province. The value of the assignment is EUR 0.8 million. The project will be executed over a period of 24 months.
In India the feasibility study for the 100 MW Dibbin Hydropower Project is to be completed in 10 months including the detailed site investigations. The contract was awarded to Electrowatt-Ekono by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation. The value of this assignment is EUR 0.9 million. The project is located in the Himalayan part of Arnuchal Pradesh in Eastern India.
Electrowatt-Ekono is a major international market player in dam and hydropower designs in Iran and India, and is currently expanding its engineering capacity and partnership with established local engineering companies.
The Energy business group, operating under the brand name Electrowatt-Ekono, had net sales of EUR 146 million in 2004. Electrowatt-Ekono has offices in 22 countries and employs 1500 experts worldwide.
