JAAKKO PÖYRY INFRA AWARDED EUR 1.6 MILLION ENGINEERING CONTRACT IN AUSTRIA
HB Verkehrsconsult GmbH, which belongs to the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group, has been awarded an engineering contract by ASFINAG, Vienna, Austria, for the implementation of a new integrated traffic control system on the Austrian motorways around Vienna. The contract value amounts to EUR 1.6 million.
The project comprises seven variable message sign systems incorporating lane and speed control as well as weather detection and related services on 228 km of Austria's motorways. Altogether 230 gantries shall be installed in the area of Vienna and southern Austria. Jaakko Pöyry Infra's services include conceptual design, permitting, site supervision, support of commissioning and project management.
The project improves the market position of Jaakko Pöyry Infra in Austria and further enhances its strong positions in Germany and Switzerland. The target is to establish a German-speaking triangle and a base for further development in Central and South-Eastern Europe.
Founded in 1982, ASFINAG is a private company owned by the Federal Republic of Austria. ASFINAG is responsible for the construction, maintenance and operation control of motorways and other major roads in Austria.
