Pöyry awarded detail design contract for hydro electric power plant and dam in Turkey

Pöyry's Energy business group has been awarded the detailed design services contract for Beyhan 1 hydro electric power plant and dam in Turkey by Kalehan Enerji Üretim A.S. The value of the contract is about EUR 2.9 million. The order value has been booked into the second quarter 2011 order stock. The detail design will be executed jointly with our consortium partner Temelsu up to end of 2013.
The installed capacity of Beyhan 1 is 550 MW with an annual generation of 1245 GWh. The projects of Beyhan and Kaleköy cascade are part of the first hydropower plant projects developed by private investors in Turkey.
Pöyry's assignment includes the execution of the detail design for civil works of the powerhouse and review of the structures like roller compacted concrete dam with power intake and penstocks, spillway, diversion structures with three tunnels, bottom outlet and switchyard.
