Pöyry awarded engineering contract for new operation control centre for the Swiss federal railway in Switzerland

Pöyry has been awarded an engineering contract by the Swiss federal railway SBB comprising preliminary design, support in the permission process and tendering and construction supervision for a new operation control centre in Olten, Switzerland. Pöyry's share of the contract is about EUR 3.5 million.
Pöyry's services in the project include structural and civil engineering, HVAC and sanitary engineering, electrical engineering and fire safety engineering for the new building.
The Swiss federal railway SBB will use this operation centre to control all the rail traffic in the central and north-western part of Switzerland. Therefore the building and its installations, for example the power supply, need to meet very high standards of reliability and availability. The control centre will begin operation after 2015.
