Pöyry awarded EUR 1.1 million assignment for a rail rehabilitation project in Germany

Pöyry's Urban & Mobility business group has been awarded a EUR 1.1 million contract by the "Württembergische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft" (subsidiary of the Veolia Transdev) for the renovation and rehabilitation of the "Strohgäubahn", an important local train connection in the northwest of Stuttgart. The order value has been booked into the second quarter 2011 order stock.
The work starts immediately and is expected to be completed at the end of 2012. The project's investment cost amounts to EUR 17 million.
Pöyry's tasks include the general planning and co-ordination of the renovation and rehabilitation of a 15 km section of the "Strohgäubahn". Pöyry's services cover planning of rail transport facilities, planning of engineering works, planning of structural framework, technical equipment and environmental planning.
Pöyry is currently working in various rail projects worldwide. The assignments include for instance supervision of several high speed rail projects in China and Spain, rail design projects in Romania, Poland and Finland as well as metro projects in Brazil, Peru and Finland.
