Pöyry expands its services in hydrological investigations and nuclear waste disposal sector

Pöyry has expanded the services of its Water and Environment business group by acquiring 100 per cent of the shares of PRG-Tec Oy, Espoo, Finland. The company specialises in hydrological and geophysical measurements of bedrock. Employing 8 experts, the company's net sales in 2009 amounted to EUR 1.0 million.
PRG-Tec Oy's clientele comprises of nuclear waste management companies in Finland and Sweden. The company has a long-term co-operation with Posiva Oy, an expert organisation responsible for the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel of the owners and related research. Together PRG-Tec Oy and Posiva Oy have created a suite of unique groundwater flow measurement techniques and tools made available. The seller Mr Pekka Rouhiainen, who has actively participated in PRG-Tec's business operations, will continue in Pöyry's employment after the transaction as well as the company's staff.
This acquisition expands Pöyry's position as a service provider to the nuclear waste management sector and to groundwater investigations as well as strengthens the company's expertise in demanding subsurface investigations.
