Pöyry served as the main engineering partner in the centralisation of production and logistics for Oy Hartwall Ab located in Lahti, Finland. Hartwall is part of Heineken N.V. that is the most international brewer in the world. Pöyry provided project management, engineering, procurement and construction management services to the project.

The EUR 234 million project is the largest-ever investment in the Finnish food industry.

The new production and logistics plant set new levels in the standards of quality assurance, customer service, employee comfort and team working, operational efficiency and environmental management.

Pöyry was involved in the project in Phases 7-9. These phases included construction of the beverage production plant, brewery, packing and logistical facilities, and administrative building.

Pre-engineering commenced in the beginning of 2000. The project was completed in the autumn 2003 with the construction of the administrative building, which includes facilities for employees and visitors.

Since project completion, Pöyry concluded a Long-term Service contract with Hartwall Lahti that covers engineering and document management services during the plant's operation and maintenance.
