Inaugurated in November 2003, the Color Line Arena in Hamburg is a multi-purpose facility that seats 15 000 spectators. The restaurant facilities inside the arena are some of the biggest in Europe, serving 5 000 customers. The arena was designed by Pöyry in collaboration with SCI of Toronto. All engineering was done in Helsinki. The project is owned and operated without subsidies, which is a very unique feature for this category of building. The arena has a high quality acoustical hall for musical concerts ranging from rock to classical repertoire, but it can also house hockey, handball and a multiplicity of other sport activities.
