Turning recycled material into packaging pleasure...

In June 2011, SFT Group selected Pöyry to realise their ambitious project of relocating and modernising a second-hand paper machine for their Kamenskaya mill, a first of its kind for the Russian market.

The reconstruction project included dismantling the existing equipment and installing the board machine to produce single-layer liner and fluting products from recycled paper with a capacity up to 250 000 t/a.

One of the biggest challenges was to upgrade a second-hand fine paper machine into a modern recycled board machine.

Kamenskaya represents a landmark case for SFT Group. The project was carried out successfully within the time schedule and budget. Also the containerboard quality reached its targets.

Pöyry’s scope covered site services for the relocation of the new board machine. The project was completed in two phases: basic engineering, with project documentation and permitting, and detail engineering.

The Russian team, including client personnel, came to Finland for the project kick-off. Close teamwork drove the project forward with a positive spirit and collaboration.
