The Finnish Innovation fund, SITRA wanted to understand how the countryside could be changed from a recipient of subsidies to an active producer of new products and services for urban areas, including an emphasis on the bio-economy. They asked Pöyry Management Consulting to provide strategic insight into future opportunities in the bio-economy and innovative ideas for how to renew the role of rural areas.
This challenging project required a unique combination of forecasting, technical knowledge and bio-economy expertise. We leveraged our global network to incorporate Dutch examples of successful rural development in the bio-economy as a benchmark for Finland. SITRA now has the insight they need to continue developing the Finnish bio-economy with rural areas as key providers.
