Sofidel´s greenfield tissue plant in Stendal, was started up on schedule in 2006.

The mill is producing kitchen towel, handkerchiefs and toilet tissue from virgin fibre, mainly for the German market. The mill is based on an efficient production concept, with low water and energy consumption producing premium class of tissue. The production concept has been developed together with Pöyry during many years of cooperation.

Pöyry´s services for the Stendal project included complete basic and detailed engineering as well as site supervision, commissioning and start-up.

Sofidel, a family owned company based in Italy, has been the most rapidly growing tissue producer in Europe, building 8 new tissue production facilities in several countries in Europe over a period of some 15 years. In addition to this Sofidel has made several acquisitions of production units.

Pöyry has had the privilege to work closely with Sofidel during all these years starting with the Delicarta Project in 1994, supporting them in studies and acquisitions and Pöyry has also done complete engineering erection supervision and commissioning services for all their new tissue production projects.
